A safe car for the school run

February 2021

This week we helped a single mum of 6 [4 on the spectrum with special needs] with repairs to her old Landrover Discovery. There was no way she could afford it and after I heard she was doing 4 trips from Landsborough to Nambour Special School per day in a borrowed mini, I knew we had to jump in.

Luckily our man Dan from All Auto Mobile Services got it sorted quickly for a great price and now Justine can take all 6 kids to school in one trip.

We also noticed her taillight was broken making it ‘not so legal’ so we bought a second-hand unit from Caloundra Wreckers to make sure she and the kids were safe. It was such a small investment but changed the world for them.

Yesterday Justine knocked on my door with a thank you card and some flowers. Totally unexpected and unnecessary but very much appreciated.

She is one of the most positive women I have met and just doing the best she can for her kids. The family was recently dislodged from their home and whilst in emergency housing, she is desperately looking for a 3 or 4 bedroom rental closer to Nambour Special School if anyone knows of anything.

What else has been going on...

End of an era

After 20 years of fundraising to help local families with disabled kids, our Trustee has retired, requiring the charity to close. Thank you so much for your support and for helping make our charity the success it was.
