We do it because we are able, for those who are not
Each year a dedicated group of volunteers run surf-related events to raise much-needed funds for severely disabled local children and their families.
The families we help have usually fallen through the cracks of Government support, are doing it extremely tough financially and have children with needs those of us with healthy kids could hardly fathom.
Since 2005 The Board Meeting has raised close to $400,000 for these local families, proving that surfers have big hearts when it comes to helping out those in the community.
But there are always more we can help.
The main event
The main events are corporate surf comps (which started in 2005), with the Sunshine Coast event run in Novermber (this year November 7 and 8) and in Byron Bay in March (2015 is March 20 and 21). The sevents draw on the enthusiasm and generosity of the Surfing and Business communities to participate in an amateur surfing competition where the emphasis is on fun.
Entry is open to all surfers - young, old, amateur, pro, male, female.
